Getting Well – Kelly Ratcliff’s storyKelly Ratcliff recently recovered from ME/CFS with the assistance of chiropractic treatment. We thank her for answering these questions about her experience. Talking Point: Why did you start going to a chiropractor? Kelly: I had suffered from ME/CFS since the age of 12, I’m now 19. In those very long six-and-a-half years, I went to many doctors and specialists; I even tried natural health practitioners, but nothing ever worked. I’d always said I’d try anything so when a friend (who also suffered from ME/CFS) told me about a special kind of chiropractic treatment available in Adelaide, I decided to give it a go. TP: What have you learnt about chiropractic care since you started treatment? Kelly: I have learnt that chiropractic is not only for people with bad backs or necks, it is for everyone who wants to achieve and maintain good health. TP: What changes have you noticed in your health? Kelly: There have been many positive changes since I started. With ME/CFS, I suffered severe lack of energy and tiredness, chronic and constant pain (mostly joints), sensitivity to light, sounds and smells, painful muscle and back spasms, severe vagueness and lack of concentration, intense and extremely painful headaches, loss of appetite and the list goes on... When I was really bad, I couldn’t even lift my head from my pi,low, let alone walk! Even breathing became difficult. Basically since starting chiropractic treatment, all of these symptoms have improved 1000 fold, if not totally vanished. TP: How has your recovery affected your life in general? Kelly: It has totally changed my life! I now have so much energy I don’t know what to do with myself. I love not living every moment in pain. Everyone can see the change in me since receiving chiropractic care. I have always loved life but I love it even more now I’m healthy and able to enjoy it!
