A Place in the Sun buyer who walked away over ‘heartbreaking’ health battle reveals dream isn’t over as she opens up on condition

A Place in the Sun fans were left heartbroken when one couple, Gary and Claire, had to walk away from their dream home over a battle with fibromyalgia.

However, it seems the story is set for a happy ending as the pair have revealed their dream isn’t over.

Claire was previously diagnosed with fibromyalgia, a chronic condition that causes pain all over the body.

She and her husband Gary were forced to walk away from their dream home on the show, a townhouse in Corralejo, Fuerteventura, after realising that she wouldn’t be able to cope with the stairs every day.

However, speaking to, Claire revealed they haven’t given up on their property search – although coronavirus has certainly got in the way.

‘I think we definitely made the right decision. It was heartbreaking. It was horrible because the house that we fell in love with had two sets of stairs […] it was just really sad,’ she recalled.
