Toxic Reform

A bill to scrap the pesticides re-registration scheme will go before the Senate this coming Monday morning [7 July 2014]. If it passes, dozens of pesticides used in our food supply could continue to go unassessed in Australia.

Without a majority in the Senate, the government will need the help of other parties to get the bill through. With the Greens already signalling their opposition to the bill, we need to convince the ALP and the Palmer United Party to agree to block it as well.

Even though the scheme was introduced by the Gillard government, there are suggestions that the ALP may support the current government's bill to scrap the pesticides scheme.

We cannot let this happen.

Please tell the Shadow Minister for Agriculture, Joel Fitzgibbon, that the ALP needs to stand up for the system it introduced itself when in government.

Email Joel Fitzgibbon now!

We also need to call on the Palmer United Party to stand up for consumers so that we can remain confident in our food supply.

Consumers deserve the assurance that harmful pesticides used in food production will be identified and removed from use.

Will you tell Joel Fitzgibbon and Clive Palmer to stand up for your rights?

Best wishes,
Angela Cartwright
