Making Catholics schools chemically safer

May 19, 2006

Catholic Education SAA delegation from the ME/CFS Society and the SA Task Force on Multiple Chemical Sensitivity met senior officers of the Catholic Education Office on May 17.

The meeting followed a letter from the Society’s president to the Director of Catholic Education proposing that the CEO set up a five-year program to make RC schools safer for students and others who are chemically sensitive.

The meeting was cordial and the CEO staff indicated that they would respond in a generally positive way.

Society member Debra Paior produced an excellent summary document of the issues for schools which was circulated at the meeting. Here it is for anyone interested in this important issue for many people with CFS:

Summary of main issues to be considered in making education accessible to children with chemical sensitivities, and safer for all (PDF, 63KB)
