Neuroendocrinology, genetics and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome
By Dr David J Torpy, MBBS, PhD, FRACP.
Dr Torpy is based at the Royal Adelaide Hospital, and is the Society’s keynote speaker appearing at our Awareness Seminar in May 2003. He is the lead author of a study on a newly described genetic mutation that has been associated with fatigue and relative hypotension.

The effect of a polynutrient supplement on fatigue and physical activity of patients with chronic fatigue syndrome – a double-blind randomized conrtolled trial;
High prevalence of mycoplasma infection among European chronic fatigue syndrome patients – examination of four mycolpasma species in blood if chronic fatigue syndrome patients;
Hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal axis reactivity in chronic fatigue syndrome and health under psychological, physiological, and pharmacological stimulation; and
Treatment with staphylococcus toxoid in fibromyalgia/chronic fatigue syndrome – a randomised controlled trial.
