Overcoming Fibromyalgia; 70-Year-Old Runs in Pear Blossom 5K

MEDFORD, Ore.

A local 70-year-old woman is running this weekend's Pear Blossom Run 5K.

Melonie Jorgensen says she's never felt better.

"There was a time when I couldn't do it (run)," Jorgensen said. "I was never so enamored with running, that I want to be a runner, it's just that I can do this, I can do it."

In her early 40's, Melonie began to experience tingling in her hands which ultimately led to pain up-and-down her entire body.

She was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia, a chronic pain disorder, which forced her into retirement after a career in teaching.
