The WHO is reviewing its Classification of Disease (ICD). Take steps to ensure that ME is correctly classified in the next edition.

Dear friends,

The World Health Organisation (WHO) is reviewing its International Classification of Disease (ICD) for its upcoming 11th edition (ICD-11). There is enormous concern about how ME & CFS will be classified in the new edition. The classification will likely endure for decades so it’s crucial we get it right now.

Volunteers Suzy Chapman & Mary Dimmock have been working tirelessly on this issue to guarantee the proper classification. Now, they need your help! They need people to go into the ICD system and agree with their proposal and/or make a comment.

They recommend the disease be listed as Myalgic Encephalomyelitis and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome for the “concept titles,” and that the illness be listed in the chapter titled: “Diseases of the nervous system.”
