May 12 is International Awareness Day

Monday 12 May 2014

From the May 12th: International Awareness Day website:

May 12

Welcome

Welcome to the consolidated site for May 12th International Awareness Day information.

May 12th has been designated as International Awareness Day for Chronic Immunological and Neurological Diseases (CIND) since 1992. The diseases included in CIND include Myalgic Encephalomyelitis/Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (ME/CFS), Fibromyalgia (FM), Gulf War Syndrome (GWS) and Multiple Chemical Sensitivities (MCS).

Florence Nigthingale
Florence Nightingale

May 12th was chosen as it is the birthday of Florence Nightingale [pictured]. She was believed to have suffered from ME/CFS.

This site was launched in August 2011 and is intended to be a central repository of information about May 12th International Awareness Day and awareness raising in general. It's for the benefit of the patient community and we will be dependent on you making us aware of activities so the site remains up to date.

The site will also serve as a repository for references to websites, forums, blogs, books etc that are relevant to our community so you can do additional research. More information will be added as time permits.

Please use the "Contact Us" form to email us. Any feedback or additional information you can provide to help make this site more complete and useful would be greatly appreciated.
