PACE Trial – letters that were not accepted by The Lancet

Saturday 23 April 2011

The LancetFrom Tom Kindlon (via Co-Cure):

Links to letters from 15 people in reply to the PACE trial that were not accepted by the Lancet

A lot of people on Monday [18 April 2011] received e-mails from The Lancet to say that their letter, in reply to the PACE trial report in The Lancet, was not accepted. (I know of 18 people; 8 others have not heard; I haven't heard of anyone who has been told their letter was accepted but presumably those eight have a reasonable chance).

Anyway, a lot of effort went into writing letters (and indeed the Lancet website submission system!) so we have been collating the letters that were not published. Most of these have previously not been seen. A lot has been written about the PACE Trial; a lot of it is summarised in these relatively short (250 words or less) letters.

They are currently up in three places:

i.e. (2 still need to be added here)

It would be great to add other letters that did not make it: if you are on one of these forums; you could post your letter. Alternatively, you can e-mail it to me and I will post it. You can decide whether you want your name with it or alternatively it can be posted anonymously. If you know somebody who submitted a letter, please make them aware of these collections.

It should be a useful resource in the future as some pieces on the PACE Trial (including some of my own) have been quite long, as have some of the discussions on forums.

Thanks to everyone who took the time to write.

Tom Kindlon
