New book: Butterflies in Winter

Monday 30 March 2009

Butterflies One of our members, Jane Gill, has written a book chronicling her experiences with ME/CFS.

The book was launched on 1 March. Here’s part of what was said at the launch:

Butterflies in Winter is a story told with clarity, depth of emotion and self-giving. Among much other it embraces health issues which Jane and the family have courageously faced together and the loss and determined hard work of rebuilding the beautiful holiday home Brett and Jane own on Kangaroo Island.

It is a story of joyous experiences in family and community life, which draws us in because it is the heartbeat of all people everywhere. And running through it all is the golden thread of God’s unfailing grace. Running through it all is the silver thread of Jane’s desire and prayer that others shall find what she has found.

Butterflies in Winter is inspired – and an inspiration, beautifully told and certain to bless all who turn its pages.”

Jane told us that feedback at the launch was overwhelmingly positive: “Men/husbands are even reading it, and lots of people are saying that they just want to get more and can’t put it down! I have shared the many struggles we’ve dealt with over a number of years, and my CFS was part of it.”

“Through it all I hope people find encouragement for what ever they are dealing with, what ever their circumstance is and that the love of God will touch them personally and breath fresh hope and energy into their lives through reading and sharing our journey. It’s refreshingly Australian and in it I share many amusing farm anecdotes as well.”

Jane also added: “Let’s hope we can make a difference in someone’s day.”

Feedback from a happy reader…

Hi Jane,

Just wanted to let you know that I really enjoyed your book. I really like the title, cover and contents!

There are many verses and passages I found encouraging, two that come to mind are the prayer from Mother Teresa, and the passage about God being above and below the clouds.

It is a book that you can keep going back to and just read a few lines here and there, which is nice.

It is very uplifting, happy and bright. I'm sure many people will find it helpful and encouraging.

Many thanks,

Wendy
