TV report on Sophia Mirza
Tuesday 16 September 2008
The UK’s Meridian Tonight has a news item on Sophia Mirza, a 32-year-old Englishwoman who died in 2006 [see earlier news item]. Sophia was the first person in the world to have “ME” listed as a cause of death.
Although originally broadcast two years ago, the TV news item has now appeared on YouTube:
We understand that news item follows on the story about the death of Nicola McNougher, and that some may find it depressing to read about two deaths of young people with ME/CFS. We do feel an obligation to link to this story because there are strong messages of hope in it.
However, if you are finding yourself suffering strong feelings of depression, or you are a family member aware of such thoughts in an ME/CFS patient, you are encouraged to contact your GP, Beyond Blue etc, or phone ACIS (Acute Crisis Intervention Service) on 13 14 65. They can all help.
